KY HAWKINS

NOT AN ANSWER TO BE HEARD
NOT AN ANSWER TO BE HEARD
Character Name: Kory Hawkins
Nicknames: "Ky" as in "kayak"
Gender: Male
Age: 15
Alliance: True Neutral
A true neutral character does what seems to be a good idea. He doesn't feel strongly one way or the other when it comes to good vs. evil or law vs. chaos. Most true neutral characters exhibit a lack of conviction or bias rather than a commitment to neutrality. Such a character thinks of good as better than evil after all, he would rather have good neighbors and rulers than evil ones. Still, he's not personally committed to upholding good in any abstract or universal way. True neutral characters are concerned with their own well-being and that of the group or organization which aids them. They may behave in a good manner to those that they consider friends and allies, but will only act maliciously against those who have tried to injure them in some way. For the rest, they do not care. They do not wish ill on those they do not know, but they also do not care when they hear of evil befalling them.
Rank: Pokemon trainer

Short Appearance: Build: Slim | Height: Average | Eyes: Brown | Hair: Dark Red
Appearance: Ky often wears a simple high-collared black and grey vest over a plain smokey colored t-shirt. His shorts, gloves, and leggings mirror the same dull scheme. Fashion-wise the boy is as consistent as the headband that never leaves his brow. If one were to open his closet they'd find rows upon rows of these same outfits lined up with virtually no discrepancies to break the chain. The only splotch of variety would be the tint of red found in the tongues of his shoes.
they can't tell me who to be
'CAUSE I'M NOT WHAT THEY SEE
'CAUSE I'M NOT WHAT THEY SEE
Personality:Ky is a complex individual constantly wavering between the extremes of bratty immaturity and the stoic demeanor of a war veteran. An enigma of a persona impossible to read with a vocabulary containing every insult ever uttered. His work ethic is unmatched as there is always a subconscious need to prove himself and a hidden inferiority complex eating away at him. Because of this he often over-performs and takes himself far too seriously. A ticking time bomb with a pathetically short fuse he has little to no patience for other people and even less understanding. Over the years he's developed profoundly thick skin as far as sensitivity goes and can usually maintain a facade of indifference. Years of pretending not to care hardened him in that regard. Despite this temperament he shows a vast amount of loyalty, kindness, and generosity to those he truly feels he can rely on. However, Ky's expansive ocean of pride is his biggest encumbrance; something he'll likely never completely outgrow.
Those who meet him rarely forget and those who cross him are rarely forgiven. When he moves he exudes an aura of confidence and purpose, always somehow managing to appear as someone of importance with time better spent elsewhere. He's not one to engage in idle chatter or even approach others at all. Social-awkwardness from years of antisocial behavior saturated with an elitist mentality have almost killed his ability to connect with others on a level beyond battling, something he doesn't seem to mind in the slightest. The one thing certain to set him off more than any other is being addressed by his real name. Those who discover it are quick to learn its the ultimate taboo.
For a child of fifteen he possess an impressive amount of resolve and determination. His father often jokes that it'd be easier to eat a Steelix tail than to get Ky to change his mind or admit when he's wrong. His mindset is one of doing whatever he feels needs to be done as soon as possible. He knows what his strengths are; and those have made him slightly arrogant and prone to overestimate the extent of his abilities. In the boy's mind he's one step below invincible. "No" isn't a word he comprehends or accepts as a final answer. If someone fails, to him, they simply didn't work hard enough. Its hard for anyone to gain his sympathy or approval. Those that do either have to earn his respect or tug at his hidden heartstrings. Despite someone of his intellect, when it comes to matters of love he's frustratingly oblivious. Anything but blatant flirting sails right over his head more often than not.

Corina Sullivan: Mother | Age: 48
Sebastian Hawkins: Father | Age: 36
History:Ky's mother was a shrewd and imposing woman who went by the name of Corina Lacole Sullivan, even after she married her "friend" of nearly twenty years, Sebastian Hawkins. Corina spent the majority of her life amassing obscene amounts of knowledge, wealth, and influence. In her youth she was champion for a long time, though eventually abandoned her title to pursue other interests. Books, magazines, recipes, advertising endorsements, it wasn't long before she had an empire to her name. It also wasn't long before her greed lead her to interests of questionable legality. One of the most skilled trainers and respectable authorities in the pokemon world by day, a secret member of a criminal organization at nightfall. That was the double-life she lead for years unknown to her husband and the world, until her son was born. In a fit of pride and vanity she named him "Kory" after herself as she wanted him to become the greatest asset she had tied to her name. Unfortunately he'd always be second place to her own ambition. After giving birth she was never in the same room with him long enough to hold eye contact.
His father raised him. He reluctantly set aside his pokemon contests, one of his few indulgences as he saw battles as a form of cruelty, to be the parent Ky needed to have. With Corina's money the family had homes all over the world, though Ky and his father chose a modest dwelling in Vardent Town while his mother eagerly jumped back into her endeavors. Over time many assumed she forgot she even had a family, her involvement in their lives limited to short monthly letters and a package in the mail once in a while. As time passed he eventually forgot what she looked like.
When Ky was five years old he was enrolled in the pokemon academy. He was told that if he was a "good boy" and did well enough his mother would come by to visit him one day. So he forced himself to be a model student. He kept his grades near the top and isolated himself from the other children. He sat by himself never speaking to anyone, seeing his peers as competition. Despite his best efforts to remain a hermit, somehow he managed to make a friend. Ever since then the pair were inseparable. They'd stay out together until the stars came out, running the streets, playing in the forest, swimming in the ponds, and chasing behind pokemon. Their friendship flourished for five years this way. Sebastian was pleased to see his son actually behave like a normal little boy.
His mother was not.
After years of benign neglect she arrived in town one day without warning, suddenly deciding to take an active interest in her son's life for the first time in the ten years he'd been born. The more time he spent with this child the less time he had his face peering into a book. She told him not to hang around them anymore only to have the children sneak and meet eachother behind her back.
In a plot to get rid of his friend and simultaneously give her son some motivation she reached out to them with a scandalous offer. In a whirlwind of events two bridges were burned shortly after. One between himself and his best friend in a heated argument. The other, his parents once he'd revealed to his father what happened. Surprisingly Lacole denied nothing. His parents got divorced after the incident. Sebastian was bribed into keeping his ex-wife's activities with to himself in exchange for him gaining full custody of Ky and her continued financial support. Though if he ever went against his mother more than he already had the pair of them knew he'd be disinherited in a heartbeat.
That was the last time he saw his mother or his former childhood friend.
For the next five years his father got himself back into pokemon contests for money. After many bouts and long hours on the road and in the halls Sebastian finally managed to establish himself as a competent coordinator. Meanwhile Ky spent all his time helping to raise his father's pokemon and act as support rather than catching his own. By this time he was fifteen and his father was doing well enough to where they could finally return home. Money was coming in. For years he went back and forth with himself on what the "right" thing to do would be. The thought of losing the lavish lifestyle he'd grown so accustomed to weighed heavy on him. Finally he found his resolve and plotted to set off on his own journey.

OOC Name: Ky
Age: 20
Member Title: Pokemon Trainer
Experience: 7 years.
Post Example:[from a harry potter site] The library was too crowded.
His personal sanctuary desecrated by the presence of rowdy undesirables that treated the inquisitive minds and social recluses who sought comfort behind tomes of text with blatant disregard. Ordinarily a staff member came to quell any disquiet before it evolved into full blown chaos. Today nobody came. So he did the only sensible thing and stormed out like a huffy teenage girl with his school robes flapping loudly behind him.
The common room was a last resort for him. He avoided lingering around places where his peers gathered in droves, staying out of sight with a glare that usually turned all but the bold away. Nobody really knew anything about him. He was fifteen, a fourth year of ambiguous heritage, one of the top students hogwarts had to offer, and hated by mostly everyone. That's where their knowledge ended.
Annoyed he let himself in through the dungeons entrance to find the common room mostly quiet. Only a handfull of slytherins gathered there to idle the rest of their time away. He felt a shy smile creep onto the corners of his lips at the prospect of a peaceful study session. His emerald eyes half-hidden by gold bangs immediately darted down to the floor to avoid unnecessary eye-contact. He didn't pay attention to their faces. Kody wasn't about to provoke anyone with his usual sneer of condescension.
If any of his usual tormentors were in the mix he begged Merlin they'd take the gesture as a sign of surrender because he certainly wasn't in the mood to deal with their abundant foolishness. Rapidly he made his way to a desk in the very far corner of the room and threw his bag down onto it. His arm disappeared into the near bottomless chasm of his bewitched tote and brought out a hefty stack of herbology notes taller than his cat. A few seconds later the boy was completely engrossed. Nothing short of a fire or the attacking of the undead would break his concentration.
