Bird song. It filled the air and every pedestrian's ear drums, a beautiful melody that was unmistakable amoungst the rest of the noises of the world. So many flying-types fluttered back and forth above the peoples' heads - Pidgey, Tailow, Starly, Pidove, any typical bird a trainer could think of. A delicious aroma was paired with these natural noises. Smells of flowers, of pie in the oven, so on so forth. The clouds were abundant in the skies that day, no enough to call it a purely cloudy day, but enough to splash the visable sky beyond a beautiful dark blue. It reminded one certain person of... well, their own eyes. But that was beside the point. Few people wandered down the streets, all lined with greenery and shimmering with nature's glory. There was not a problem navigating through the tiny town of Ormy that day, as there were few days that there ever was. It would be easy to see someone standing in plain sight. And, good thing, too; that was exactly what she set out to do that fateful day. But who exactly was she? Simple. A single figure sat alone on an old bench in town, shadowed by the broken sunlight cause by the tree leaves above her head. In her mouth was a straw, pulling up some of the shake in the cup in her hands every once in a while when she felt like she needed a drink. It was so worth the low price, as well - a flavor that could only be found in this popular spot. It was a funny thing, really, how this place stayed so empty while so many people talked about it's wonders and dreamed of getting there themselves. Sure, it's location was detached from the rest of the region and it was a fairly difficult place to get to, but treturous journeys were far from foreign to this particular female. However, sight seeing was not the number one priority on her list of things to do here - even though she was eating up all of the natural bliss this place provided, as if it held Mother Nature's very hand - her true purpose, instead, being a meeting with a very special person. Sapphire had waited in that spot for what seemed like an eternity... and a week after that. Hours had passed as she wandered through Ormy Village, in fact, while she waited and waited on the person she just knew she was destined to meet. Many times she wondered if he would ever show up and pondered whether to give up and leave before a voice told her to remain there until he arrived to see her. It wasn't as though she'd set up a meeting with someone, though; if she had, it would have been with another member of the league and, by then, she would have given up all hope of seeing them. Planned meetings weren't her thing. Sadly, the person she was waiting for probably had no idea of her existance at all; if he did, it would be based on her endevours in Hoenn or her title in Lyeant only. But she knew of him - oh, she knew him to well. And for a very, very special reason. He was only related to her all time hero. Green Oak. The man was famous back in Kanto, just as she was in Hoenn. He was the prodogy grandchild of the even more famous and world known Professor Oak. He was one of the youngest champions in history, even though his possition was quickly stolen. He was the nearly unstoppable gym leader of Viridian until he retired for unkown reasons. He'd made remarkable achievements in research of his own. And, of course - and most importantly - he had been the neighbor and rival of Champion Red for longer than she'd been his biggest fan. When she'd caught wind that her hero's number one rival was in Lyeant, she'd been overjoyed for a bit. When she found out his exact location, she nearly had a heart attack. And why would she? Simple. She could squeeze all the information she'd ever need about Red in a life time out of him while he was around. Maybe even get a battle out of him if he was really as good as they said. Yeah, that'd be nice... The thought itself was making her squirm around on her seat, unable to hold in her excitement. Of course, she had to stop herself when weird looks were shot in her general direction. "I really hope people weren't just spreadin' rumors," the blue-eyed woman pouted, those very eyes scanning the area for any sign of the black-shirted man she so desperately needed to see, "Otherwise I'm gonna have some more live punching bags to beat the crud outta when I find whoever started 'em..." When she set her mind to something, there was no stopping her. When she found out people were lieing to her, as well, she was possibly the most unstopable force to be bestowed upon the planet. She'd literally punch the person who came up with the lie that Green Oak was in the area's brains out if she ever found out it was a lie and pinpointed their location. No one lied to her about such serious matters and got out with any less than brain damage. No one. However, the fire that had been lit just moments before in slight anger dimmed a bit as she muttered slowly to himself, "And, if he is here, be better show up soon or... Or... I don't know what I'm gonna do..." Suddenly, a flash of brown from behind a corn caught her attention and, as she whipped her head around to see what it was, the woman suffered from a bout of whiplash. Flinching and grasping her head for a moment, she realized to late that she would miss her target if she waited to long and stopped her self pity. Upon looking up, she watched the figure disappear behind a building and, without thinking, she gave chase. Of course, maybe running after then wasn't the greatest idea she'd had all day. When the stranger - was it Green? It just had to be - saw someone he wasn't familiar with racing after him, he must have panicked and started running off himself. Gritting her teeth in frustration, Sapphire ran harder. Darn trees! Darn Clouds! All of the shadows streaking across the ground made it nearly impossible for her to make out his features. He looked like Green, by why would he be running away? Wasn't he supposed to be one of those guys who just ate up all the attention they got? Maybe those were the rumors... Hm... "Dangit... Green...," she hissed through gasps of air, closing in on him and reaching out to catch him by the shirt. "If I wanted... a workout... I'd do it... by my own means..." Finally, her black and white gloves snatched the fabric of his shirt and, when she noticed he didn't slow down, she tackled him to the paved ground with a thud. "Ha!" The gym leader shouted in triumph. "I finally caught you... Green...?" Blue eyes met brown as the person stranger below her stared at her in utter and complete fear. This wasn't Green. This was far from who Green was supposed to be. "P-please -" he was begging, voice trembling to a point that she felt utterly and completely guilty, "d-don't hurt me! I'll give you money - I'll do anything you want! Just please let me go!" Startled by her own actions, the female lifted herself off the ground, staring at him. "Aw, man, I am so sorry!" she exclaimed as she watched him shakily get to his feet. "I wasn't tryin' to hurt ya'! I thought you were someone else and -" It was obvious her words weren't making the situation any better. "H-Hey, I got cash. I can treat ya' to some ice cream or somethin' if it'll make up for all this." Sadly, the man declined, shaking his head and bidding her a timid farewell before brushing past her and speeding off the moment he thought the coast was clear. "Man, I woulda' liked to see the look on Ruby's face if he were here," Sapphire thought aloud, trying to laugh it off as some joke so the guilt didn't eat away at her as much as it was. "He probably woulda had a fit of laughter. Made fun of his fashion sense or whatever that prissy boy likes to do to strangers..." But Ruby wasn't with her anymore, was he? And, as much as she hated to admit it... She kind of missed him. And he still hadn't told her that he remembered everything that happened between them on Mirage Island! She wouldn't die peacefully until that sissy boy did! But she was waiting for Green, not Ruby. Her love affairs would have to wait for another day. words;; 1592 words. tagged;; sky as green and shizu as ruby. muse;; meh. notes;; he is the god of fire, BURNIN' HIGHER! GOD OF FIRE! TO THE SKY! |
