Icy blue eyes shifted to and fro, raking over the ballroom with a look full of contempt. Classical music played in the background - an arrangement that she recalled and hummed along to in the back of her mind - as young and old couples swayed to the music. New trainers, young trainers, veteran trainers, gym leaders, every single kind of person under the sun must have been in that large building, enjoying themselves in some way or another. They were oblivious. Every single one of them. They had no idea that a storm was brewing, just under their noses. They wouldn't know until they were hit full on and, oh goodness, what a lovely sight that would be for sore eyes just as her's. It brought a twisted grin to her thin lips with the very thought.
Everything was in place, Lorelei had made certain. They'd replaced the cake supplied with their own... special cake. A sadistic grunt had suggested implanting a bomb into something as innocent as the dessert that brought people together. It was just sick enough to please the woman. However, having a bomb-crazed maniac on the loose in headquarters did not particularly appeal to her and she made sure to give him a slice of his own idea. Literally. The explosion was magnificent. To think; this frosted delight was much bigger than just a measly slice. They could blow the entire place in half successfully the moment that someone inserted a cutting knife into it. Oh, what joys. Watching all of these worthless ants be destroyed in a fiery explosion. And, with their fall, a new power would rise. One that would terrorize all of Lyeant for days, weeks, months, years to come. And, then - the world. And everything would then be as she wanted it.
Lorelei, supreme ruler above all. A few years ago, she would have been indifferent to such a title. Nowadays, it shent shivers of delight down her spine.
"Possition yourselves accordingly," she commanded quietly to one of the organization's nearby members. The message was passed on in almost silence, words passed at nearly inaudible volumes. However, as she watched them line up or stand amoungst themselves in their designated possitions, she was aware that everyone had heard her order. Every single one of them was clear of the destruction area. Now, all she had to do was trick that poor sacrifice into cutting the new cake; it wouldn't be hard. If anything, it would be the easiest thing she would do that night. Cutting across the ballroom, cursing under her breath as a clumsy fool bumped into her, she found herself face to face with who appeared to be in charge of stocking the food and the like. Tapping his shoulders and feigning a slightly concerned smile, she stated, "Excuse me, sir, but it appears that the cake has all been eaten. You wouldn't mind cutting into the other one for me so I can get a slice myself, would you?"
He seemed genuinely surprised for a moment, probably contemplating whether or not to question her or to do as told immediately. Was it just the way that she walked and talked that made others assume that her every request was an order, and not just that - a request? "Is there something wrong? Can't you cut your own piece?" he asked after what seemed like an eternity. Hm. This was what they called service nowadays? Thankfully, he would be the first to be blown to bits in a few moments. Seemingly unfazed, she explained, "Well, I hate to admit that I'm quite clumsy with things like that. Others must be hungry for some more, as well, wouldn't you think? And you didn't seem to busy, so I assumed..." She need not continue. He stared at her blue eyes, clouded and unreadable, for a bit before shrugging and replying, "Well, I suppose I can cut it for you. Though, that cake looks a little weird..." The last part was muttered under his breath as he strolled closer to the table where all of the desserts were placed, though she would distinctly hear every word.
Twirling around to watch, plain black dress floating gracefully in the air with her every movement, Lorelei backed away and pressed herself against the wall. Already clutching Vulcan's Poke' Ball - in case she needed the fire-type to sheild her, after all - as she watched him prepare to cut into the white frosted food, she prepared herself for the explosion that would follow.
...
[ In other words, the cake is a lie. But we have pie, if that makes you feel any better. Just don't drink the tea. I guess that's poisoned.
Posting. Is. Mandatory. At least, with one character. If you have registered any of your characters in the Let's Start Off With a Bang thread, at least one of them must post here in reaction to the explosion. IF you don't want a character any more, I guess, you can have them die in the disaster, or simply be killed off by the grunts attacking people. We won't kill you off without your permission, of course, but don't be afraid to kill someone off for TEH DRAMA. Confronting Lorelei, herself, as she's leader of the whole operation with also lead to an interesting mix, as well, so don't be shy; HOP IN THERE AND TROLL TALK TO HER. Er... I guess that's it. Big plot time, people, so let's make the most of it while we can. :3
Note;; More for myself, than anyone else... Lori does not count as my one character posting in this thread. Ilixie will probably be running around, too. Which explains why now - and in future posts - Lori's posts won't be over 1000 words. So... yeah. 'Kay, thanks, bye. ]

"Wir waren namenlos" Und ohne lieder "Recht wortlos" Waren wir nie wieder
Josh was making yet another round towards his beloved paper plates. He really wasn't one hundred percent sure why he liked those plates so much, but boy did he. Some were even getting names. "God, I'm either crazy or I have no friends." Josh thought this to himself as he looked at the plates again. He was looking at George specifically. The plate was yellow, and it reminded him of that man in yellow from the cartoon about the monkey. That monkey was always getting into trouble wasn't he?
Josh gave a breathy chuckle at the cartoon he knew of but never really watched. He wasn't sure why it was funny to him.
He looked away from George, past Bob (the blue plate) and up towards the slowly growing croud. An unknown force nocked the breath out of him, causing him to take a step back. With that step a violent electricity went through his body, melting his shoes to the floor, causing his muscles to tence up and become rigid. He was frozen with fear.
He knew that face.
This lady. Josh never had any long personal encounters with this woman, but she was part of Team Imum. Worse, she was a big name in the organization, and that meant even bigger trouble.
Eyes wide open and mouth gaping, he tried for a moment or two to get a half decent understanding as to what was going on at this moment. Was he really in any danger? He had deserted, so he was at least in some amount of that. Was anyone else, though? He couldn't tell. The woman walked over to a man and started talking. What was she doing, and what was going on?
Josh wished he'd payed more attention as a member of the horrible group. Maybe he would've learned something about the lady that would've helped him out right now. He didn't even know her name.
Josh forced petrified muscles to unglue cement heavy feet from tile. He could practacally hear his jaw screaming at him as he forced it to shut. He blinked for the first time in minutes. He had no idea what was going on, but he had to seem like any average Joe or he would be in even more trouble than he had been.
He walked to the other side of the table with the plates, heading right behind Erika. (The orange plate) For some reason even in all of this fright the useless names of paper plates stuck in his head. Somehow being this mere foot away from this dangerous woman seemed to give him much better protection.
And oh god did it.
Suddenly, Josh couldn't see. Josh couldn't hear. This was something he would've been used to, but it was a different sort of dissability than he'd been used to. A blank white sheet was draped across his eyes, reflecting odd shades of yellow while blowing in the wind. Instead of hearing nothing or garbled nonsence, he was greeted by an excruciating high pitch that seemed to make him bleed from the ears, from the mouth, from everywhere. And all while a moster with a tounge covered in barbs licked up and down his body.
He was on fire.
Frantically he rolled on the ground, suprisingly remembering the only thing he'd been told to do if he were to catch on fire. Rolling a small distance away from where he was, eventually he managed to put himself out, throwing his new jacket away, still in a blaze. Amazingly he'd excaped with only minor burns. He also didn't need a haircut anymore, on the bright side.
He really needed to stop looking on the bright side. It tended to make what was really going on seem that much worse. On that note, what the hell was going on, anyway? With one glance back towards the other side of the room, he could only think of two things.
1. Team Imum was here, and a lot of people were hurt, dead, because of them.
2. Bob, George, and Erika were three friends he probably wouldn't see again.

"Talking~!" 'Thinking~!' "Listenin'~!" Acting~!
Well, no one had interrupted. It was a small blessing, Nymah mused, as she watched the ongoing party. She tried to remember why she had come in the first place, but couldn't grasp anything that would make it worth her while to attend a boring party, which would be so much more fun with a little mayhem... Mayhem! The sight of familiar dark brown locks, as well as that single word, reminded her of the rumors that she had managed to catch upon her return to the region. She wondered when the woman her tawny eyes were now fixed upon would strike, when something would actually happen. She leaned back against the hard, uncomfortable chair that was up against the wall, facing the room at large. While she had managed to go undetected, or at least unmolested, everyone and everything had, at one time or another, been subject to the lithe woman's scrutiny. She saw Lorelei speak to someone, a person who didn't seem to familiar. However, if her senses were accurate, the game was afoot, and the worm that had captured Lorelei's words was one of Imum's grunts. Who could keep track of all of them, anyway? They were almost worms.
Leaning back, knowing that whatever happened would barely touch her, if at all, she watched the subtle clamoring of people getting into careful position. Unsure of what to expect, the loud explosion knocked her off-guard. As she had been gazing at the table laden with food a moment before, her eyes were seared with the light of the flash, She bent her head down, blinking at the table she knew must be there, as a pale hand came up to clutch her black cloak around herself, as the wind stirred by the explosion threatened to unhood her.
Once her eyesight had, at least partially, returned, she looked back up, revelling in the mayhem that had ensued. Well played, Lorelei, very well played. She had to leave it to her second-in-command, the woman had flair. She saw the grunts spreading through the crowd, attacking whomever they saw fit. She pulled out Houndoom's Pokeball and held it in her concealed hand, as she saw a grunt glance her way. She had been spotted, for perhaps the first time that evening.
As the grunt made his way towards her, Nymah stood gracefully from her chair and used her free hand to push back the hood of black velvet, letting her golden hair tumble free. She stared at the grunt, who obviously had no clue with whom he was dealing, and leveled her gaze at him, before, in an almost silent, perfectly deadly voice, she spoke first, "I would suggest you think twice before you try to do anything to me, before you find yourself flat on your back, living your last four seconds in agony." |
She pushed a lock of blonde hair behind her shoulder, "If you need any verification of my total seriousness in this matter, go ask Lorelei about my claims." Her voice, although it was quiet and measured, contained a perfect note of malice, without any of the other feelings that betrayed the lowly humans. She could see that the grunt was stunned, both at her standing up to him and speaking so maliciously, and with so much confidence. As she mentioned Lorelei's name, though, she could see that she had shocked this youngster. He blinked once, obviously stunned, then turned and hurried towards the dark-haired woman. Nymah sat down again, arranging her cloak about her body, although this time, she didn't pull up her hood again. Let Lorelei see her, if she would. Nymah watched the grunt go up to Lorelei and speak to her, urgent, hurried tones, obviously relaying what had happened. A small smile played across Ny's lips as she waited for the other woman's reaction, already anticipating the surprise her return would cause. [/div]

"So i'm tired of all the pain" Of the misery inside "And I wish that I could live" Feeling nothing but the night. "You can tell me what to say, you can tell me where to go, but I doubt that I would care, and my heart would never know..."Shizuka, her siamese kitten atop her shoulder as always, gaped at the impressive set up of the Lyeant-wide ballroom. She had hardly expected to come and do much dancing, for that was far from her strong suit. Mostly, her reasons for coming here were out of curiosity, especially since under the situation where everyone from the entire region would be coming, therefore she had hoped to find many chances to see a lot of pokemon. She wasn't dissappointed that there might even be a possibility of a law against any pokemon battling here, since the purpose of this was all simply to have the biggest party ever, because she was simply excited that she would see so many people here, all with their pokemon. " I don't like this place. It's too big." Sakura, her meowth hissed uneasily. Shizuka reached up and stroked the siamese kitten's soft, silky white fur. "I'm sure you'll be fine. It's just going to be a big party, so cheer up!" Shizuka replied optomistically, and began to look around for any other pokemon trainers. A few days ago, Shizuka had decided to try a new look, substituting her long, fancy split dress for a shorter one, in which the skirt came only to her knees. She wore a soft teal scarf around her neck, and a wool hat with square edges, so that she could take half the strain off her by keeping her Vulpix ears hidden and unsuspicious. She only had to hide her Vulpix tails, now. She wondered if she would see people like that Will person who had helped her and the ninetails girl out when they had collided. The very next second interrupted her thoughts. It all happened at once, the blinding flash of light along with the deafening explosion. Had someone stepped on a Voltorb or something? No, this explosion was man-made, too destructive and terrible to be from an innocent Voltorb trying to protect itself, or just let off some anger. There wasn't even enough time to wonder about that. When Shizuka could even get her thoughts straight again, she was lying on the littered floor of the ballroom, easily knocked to the ground by the blast. Smoke made her cough harshly, and the only thing she could see were red and yellow lights. The sound of the explosion still roaring in her head was the only thing she could hear, and she could only curl up in confusion and bewilderment. Where was Sakura? Shizuka wondered in alarm. Her rising fear rose higher as she felt deep claw marks in her shoulder. Had Sakura been blown far away and hurt badly in the explosion? Or worse? Then Shizuka realized that she felt fur in her hands, and a rush of emotions came over her in relief as she looked down to see the meowth clutched tightly, protectively in her arms. "Thank Arceus!" But what just happened? For the most part, burns covered her legs and bare arms, and smoke filled the air, but Shizuka was too stunned to even feel the pain yet. hr] o o c || Team Imum used Explosion. Love the picture <3333 Hataro happened to be one of the mysterious characters leaning casually against one of the walls that supported the place, one leg bent at a slight angle and rested against the wall, the other supporting his weight. He ignored the curious looks he got for the suspicious gray Mightyena ears pointed back with disinterest, and for the long, shiny black well groomed Mightyena tail that shown from behind him. Those were the most strange of things that one might notice about him, other than the way he wore his long hair in a ponytail right before the end, and his traditional styled robes, fit for only his style of fighting. His eyes were closed, but he was not sleeping. Instead, the unimpressed Mightyena gijinka was in one of his medatative states, where he was aware of his surroundings, but at the same time, completely ignoring them. The fun hadn't started yet, he knew, and if anyone chose to take that as a hint, their chances for surviving this party might rise by a small percentage...just kidding. He, an honerable executive, would make sure that Lorelei would see the party she wanted. But so far, it seemed like there wasn't anything for the executive to do but wait and see what would happened. Hearing Lorelei's voice, he nearly smiled to himself at the mention of the cake. It's about time. He thought as he casually slid behind a column, another subtle hint that no one would take. The explosion blew debris, people and pokemon away, but Hataro was easily out of harm's way. In his opinion, he would have enjoyed being a part of an even more impressive introduction of Team Imum to the world, maybe something like having their pokemon going about, wrecking havic, then doing something explosive just to show Team Imum's power. But this, it just seemed too secretive and subtle. A hiding criminal act where the culprit used secretive methods to do his thing, not wanting anyone else to know. This was supposed to be an explosion to rejoice! While flattening everything in its wake, the explosion should herald the rise to power of Team Imum! After the initial blast, Hataro slipped out from behind the column, walked up to Lorelei with that same unimpressed look on his blank face. "Well, what now, Leader? We need to let everyone know exactly what hit them!"

Look at the pretty table With such a major party being held right in the city of his gym, there was no questioning that Shin'ichi, gym leader of Irisia city would be there for sure. He might even expect to meet a few gym challenges to look forward to after the party, after all, almost every trainer from the ends of Lyeant was coming, and he knew that he hadn't even battled twenty-five parent of the population of trainers in the Lyeant region since his debut as Gym Leader. Besides, he had been missing the wonderful challenge of putting his wits to the test against another real trainer(and beating their pokemon completely). The least he could expect would probably be him ending up having to answer questions to the young trainer-to-be children, if not write a few autographs here and there, maybe even find a pretty women to have fun with... His fantasies of predictions just about did come true. He found a few interesting trainers who sought to challenge the gym. A group of children that weren't old enough to raise pokemon yet came, led by a girl with dark blue anti-gravitational pig-tails, expecting that he answer every singly question possible about pokemon and battles. Well, with that charming smile on the crystal-eyed girl's face, showing her kindness for children, Shin'ichi really couldn't say no. "Do pokemon have spots?" "Some species of pokemon do have spots." "What pokemon should I get?" "It's a hard decision, but any pokemon can become strong with proper training and good care." "Can I see all your pokemon?" "If everyone here brought out all their pokemon, the place would get out of control." He was eventually persuaded to let out Blacky, one his smallest pokemon, and he had to stay around for a while until the children ginally got bored of petting the Umbreon's thin black coat, while the umbreon patiently sat still. Meanwhile, he realized that the crystal-eyed girl in the lab coat had gone off somewhere, dissappeared into the crowd. He felt a slight vibration, then soon realized that his pokemon, Tama, his absol, a disaster pokemon, was earnestly kicking about within his pokeball. "What's the matter, Tama?" In the response, the absol only kicked harder, proceeding to bang the horn of its head against the pokeball, asking to be let out. Shin'ichi obliged. The rare times when Tama ever acted this way could only mean one thing. A disaster was about to happen. Tama was an Absol, a disaster pokemon, able to sense the comings of a disaster, and Shin'ichi had learned throughout his years of training Tama to trust in Tama's telling of a coming disaster. The pokemon's appearance surprised the children, who all cried out in surprise. "Everyone, gather together!!" The seriousness of his voice had the children obeying the gym leader without question, but with whimpers and worried glances about the ballroom. "Tama, Double Team, then use Detect!" Immediately, the black and white pokemon began making dopplegangers of itself, each using detect, creating a strong barrier of defense around the children. Just in time for the explosion. The destruction was immense, and Shin'ichi knew that the children would most likely all be wetting their pants by now in terror. But the children were safe, and that was most important. He looked around, searching for the crystal-eyed girl with the blue, anti-gravitational pigtails, but could hardly recognize any of the people in the ball room through the smoke and burnt bodies. Anger filled his lavender eyes like fire. Who could have done such a terrible thing? As gym leader of Irisia city, Shin'ichi vowed at that moment that he would find out who was behind this, and stop them with all his power. It was simply his nature, and his duty as gym leader. Having Tama and Blacky lead the children away to a safer place, Shin'ichi began searching around for any suspicious looking people.

"Be good to yourself when" 'Nobody else will' "You're walkin' on high wire" Caught in the cross fire Crystal began to search around the ballroom, knowing that the children would be safe with the Irisia city gym leader, known for his strong sense of justice. She had always had a soft spot for children, and when a small group of children had been found by her, wandering around the ballroom, she took it upon herself to escort them in, and look after them. Now she had another goal on her mind, that the children were being supervised, and having fun at the same time: searching for Gold. Would Gold come to an event like this? Crystal thought that Gold might have liked to come and find some way to show off in front of all the people of the Lyeant region, but she also knew that neither did he prefer to fit in with the crowd. She only half expected not to find him anywhere, but she wouldn't be satisfied until she searched. She was pretty sure Silver most likely wouldn't come to an event like this, but in Gold's case, it could be either way. The next moment took her off her feet, as a huge blast hit her from behind, sending her launching aways several meters. After the initial blasted, it took long adrenaline filled moments of daze for her to regain her senses and realize what just happened. Naturally, the first thing that came to her mind was to find out if the children were okay. She felt a wave of weak dizzyness come over her as she stood slowly, but quickly regained her composure and looked around for the gym leader and the kids. Walking amongst burnt, wounded, even possibly dead citizens of Lyeant, tears began to fill her eyes and run down her cheeks. Who could have done such a horrible thing? She could only pray that the children were safe. To her great relief, she saw the entire group of children being lead away by the gym leader's pokemon, only a few scratches and burns on the children. Thank Arceus they're all safe! The gym leader himself was nowhere to be seen, but Crystal had decided upon her choices. She intended to find the culprit, and stop whoever was doing this from hurting anymore people or innocent children! "Megaree!" She called, pressing the button on Mega's pokeball, and in response, out came the giant flower dinosaur. "Gah-Nyam!" The pokemon gasped at the scene. "Come on, Megaree, we gotta stop whoever did this! Gold and Silver aren't here, so we have to handle this ourselves!" "Meganiii!" The hardy pokemon replied eagerly, determination filling his eyes as Crystal as the two began to search for the culprit.
