THE APPEARANCE

APPEARANCE;;

Standing at a full 6' 3", Kori's first impression on many people is that of momentary awe quickly followed by a very obvious statement of, "Wow, you're tall." Up close, his features aren't as sharp as one would expect. His face is ever so slightly rounded, smoothing out his jaw line and making it easier to look at. Due to his height, Kori is rather slim despite his appetite which might say otherwise. His limbs are longer which give his muscles a sort of 'stretched' look, though he can be deceptively strong should the need arise. His skin is lighter in color which goes along nicely with his unique blue hair and bright azure eyes. Some may even go as far to say that he's a handsome young man.

As if to add to his slightly aloof personality, Kori also wears a pair of glasses which frequently slip down the bridge of his nose. From far away, he's a rather defined young man often found clad in a simple white dress shirt with the top two buttons undone as well as a pair of black slacks. These are his clothes he wears in contests and he treats them well. On the off chance that he needs to change, he has a pair of jeans and a simple T-shirt that he keeps with him. However, he greatly dislikes wearing short sleeved shirts, no matter the temperature outside, due to a horribly discolored burn on his right arm which has severely damaged the nerves. Because of this, his right arm is far less sensitive to touch or pain.

Kori is generally seen with a light smile on his face which can be contagious to others. On occasion, it shifts to a more confused expression in which his eyes widen with curiosity. when speaking quietly, his voice is light, perhaps borderline feminine. However, it very obviously leans towards the masculine side of the spectrum, especially when he laughs or talks louder.

THE PERSONALITY

Kori is generally soft spoken - no surprise there. He’s always putting others before himself, especially in situations that could end badly. On occasion, he does have a outgoing streak, usually when he’s had too much of a rush in a normal day. In his younger years, Kori was an eccentric child. His imagination seemed to know no bounds. Sometimes, he would go on and on about a fantasy world where he was the best Pokémon trainer. However, Kori has grown into a quiet, caring young man.

His quietness, however, should not be mistaken for shyness. In fact, Kori is quite the opposite of shy. While he won't often put his ideas up front first, he thoroughly enjoys the company of others, sometimes specifically searching people out for the sole sake of being around someone else. Because of this, he makes an honest effort to reach out to others and actually suffers from depression with the lack of human interaction.

He's fairly laid back when it comes to other people, more than willing to be a follower rather than a leader. However, he has certain quirks about him that people find difficult to overlook. Kori's personal bubble is almost non-existent which is probably one of the first things about him that people come to realize. This is because there is almost no hesitation when it comes to approaching a completely random stranger and wiping something from their face, be it mud, dirt, or something from their lunch. He also has an odd habit of resting his head on someone's lap as long as they're not a completely stranger.

Some would say that Kori is too trusting of people. However, Kori’s a firm believer that everybody has good in them – even the Team Imum members. He believes that, even though they do bad things, there’s still a hint of positive morals behind their actions. More often than not, he’ll rely on his ability to talk his way out of things before calling Honey into action. Being a coordinator, Kori always aims to make a show of all his battles. And yes, he does mean to show off occasionally, but mostly, it’s just to practice. This usually leads to his downfall in a battle he could normally win.

Kori's history is more tragic than he would ever let on, though it begins on a light note. Kori was born to two very loving parents. He was born mere moments before his fraternal twin, Kora. Their parents weren't necessarily rich, per se, but they were well off enough support their two kids with ease as well as own a fancy, two-story home. Kori and Kora were like mirror images of each other, each one a half to complete the other. Because of this, they didn't have many disputes growing up. Kori was the quieter of the two, often following Kora around despite being the older one of the two. Kora, on the other hand, was headstrong, always marching right into something without hesitation.

The two of them were obviously the most comfortable when with the other. This became more and more apparent when school began and Kora and Kori would spend all their time together. However, thanks to Kora, the two of them still met new people, and life was a jolly 'ol time for the two of them. When the two of them were eight, their parents put them in separate bed rooms. This, however, didn't stop Kora from sneaking out of her room in the middle of the night and falling asleep with Kori.

Over the course of the next two years, though, Kora grew out of that habit, though the two were still attached at the hip during their waking hours. On the night of their tenth birthday, though, disaster struck. It was in the wee hours of the morning, perhaps around two or three, when the fire reached its peak. When Kori awoke to the sound of crackling flames and crashing boards, his thoughts immediately flew to Kora. He threw caution out the window and threw his door open, intent on finding his twin.

A burning board collapsed as he maneuvered carefully on the second floor, and Kori only barely managed to move out of the way. The board, however, caught his pajama sleeve on fire, leaving his right forearm permanently scarred and desensitized. When he reached his sister's room, however, flames had already engulfed it. Everything inside was ablaze, and there was no sign of his sister. Refusing to give up that easily, he stepped inside, calling out for her. There was no response, and, as he moved to leave, the ceiling crashed down, barely missing him, but trapping him in the room.

From that point on, it's a bit of a blur in his mind. However, where the memories pick up again, he was left in a forest not far away from the house. He could hear firefighters yelling at each other and could see the billowing black smoke pouring into the sky. Beside him was a small Swablu that appeared to be unconscious, though he wasn't sure from what. He approached the firefighters and was sent to the hospital. He kept the Swablu with him.

When he was released from the hospital, he managed to stay out of the foster system by lying and saying he was a pokemon trainer. The lie was readily believed, especially because he already had a pokemon with him. The first taste of his ability to shift forms came during an unexpected time. The Swablu had stayed by his side when he had set out, and the two had become great friends. They were in a large, open field. The day was bright and sunny and relaxed. Kori had expressed his jealousy of the Swablu's ability to fly.

And then, it just sort of happened. Without warning, he was suddenly flying alongside his pokemon with cloud-like wings of his own. And he reveled in the experience. It wasn't until a few months after first finding out about his ability did he connect it with his survival of the house fire. Since that time, he decided to become a coordinator, feeling that he had an advantage over others with the ability to know his pokemon's boundaries first hand.

Something he'll never know is that the Swablu he's named Honey and kept by his side is the very sister he believed died in the house fire.
