Plit...
That was a sound that Will was slowly becoming accustomed to. It came in a steady rhythm now, slow yet constant, and no matter how far the young breeder walked into the caverns or which path he went down it continued. Almost like the sound was following him, maybe even taunting him. He had only just started his trek through these "No Man's Caverns" and had already found something to annoy him it seemed. However, with it he could more or less keep track of the time or at least have a general idea of it. As strong and well trained as his pokemon may be, which wasn't much stronger than when he first got them, the young man didn't not want to become trapped in this place. He was just testing the area, trying to map out path ways, scout the pokemon that called it home, and judge the time it might take him to complete the journey from Inferia to Erayo. One couldn't be too careful.
Plit...Ssssss...
Oh. Well now, wasn't that just perfect. A small little, innocent drop of water had decided to fall right onto the lit cigarette that Will was smoking. Silently, he made a not to himself to restock them and get at least a couple of lighters. Going by this being the seventh time a stray drop of water ended up putting out one cigarette, he wasn't sure if all of his smokes would survive a prolonged trip through. With an aggravated sigh, Will stopped short and dug around for his lighter. Barely sparing enough time to shake the thing, he deemed it useful for a few more lights. However, try as he might, the thing didn't want to produce a flame. The chilly air and subtle shift in wind worked determinedly against the teen's efforts. But in the end he managed to get a small flame to flutter into existence. The cigarette had a bit of a funny texture to the flavor now, but it was lit once more despite the dampness.
Plit...
Will quickly stepped aside to allow the drop to narrowly miss his newly lighted cigarette. Then he used the light from the sputtering flame of his lighter to check the piece of paper he was using to make a map. However, he only got a glimpse before the light was taken away by a stray breeze. With a heavy sigh of annoyance he let out Sati, his cyndaquil, the fire mouse was already alert and watching. The flames on her back giving a good radiance needed for him to mark the places he'd traveled by. Getting the other pokeball from his belt he also released Varuna, his Oshawott, from the confines of the storage in a burst of red light. It wouldn't do for him to be taken unaware so he motioned for them to take a position as guards in front of him as he backed close to a wall.
He wasn't far from the entrance he'd used, but there had been quite a few turns. Even more dead ends. Glancing off to the darkness, he drew out that this path in particular still had plenty of space left unmarked. There were a few he had not bothered to check a ways back as well. It was for the best. Taking too many turns would have been troubling and confusing in the long run. Will needed a straight path first and foremost. After that was done, then he could start exploring the side paths. Finished, he folded the paper back up and pushed off the wall. Then without a word he gave a sharp whistle and continued on the path he'd set. Sati in back to provide enough light so that nothing snuck up on them and Varuna in front to intercept a rush that might come from the darkness that Sati's fire couldn't light.
Plit... Will flinched, that sound was really getting on his nerves.
(No specific pokemon requests, but double battle please?)

You see them? Yup. What are they doing here? Dunno. Let's get em outta here. I don't like 'em. Alright.
Two Pokemon at the ceiling swiveled their heads to look down at the newcomers within the Caverns. Despite the name, the Pokemon saw trainers occasionally, so no Pokemon was truly 'safe' from the trainer influence, even somewhere supposedly where 'no man' should go. However, the Pokemon didn't mind. They spent their days staking out at the entrance, watching people go by, deciding whether or not to mess with them or not. It was unfair how they would sneak up and attack like that, but.. Zubat never cared.
Alright. They're further in, let's go. The talkative Zubat said, while his burly partner followed. They detatched themselves from the cave ceiling and fell towards the floor, head first. At the last second, both unfurled their wings and glided, heading further and further into the cave. Light.. One of the Zubat crooned, and the first rolled his non-existant eyes. Oh stop it. There are NO bugs around it, so stick to the plan. We'll attack the fire rat. He ordered.
The trio came back into sight, with the Cyndaquil taking up the rear. The Zubats flapped their wings as silently as possible before taking into a dive, mouths open for attacking. Their teeth were primed and ready, and both reached the Cynadquil and gave it a swift bite to the back legs. After they were sure damange was done they detatched and started making noise, preparing for a full fight with both of them.

A distant flutter reached Will's ears as he walked. Every sound made by him or his pokemon bounced off the cavern's walls. Back and forth, echoing. It made everything slightly disorienting. The sounds that were close seemed far and those far seemed around the corner. The breeder could have sworn the flutter had been precieded by a whooshing flap, similar to the unfurling of wings. It rang different than what he was used to so the teen wasn't quite able to pin down what the sound might have been caused by. The sound was different than a bird pokemon, that much was for sure. The way it bounced off the walls might have changed the overall sound, but Will was sure it wouldn't have changed that much. Will's shoulders tensed, but he didn't stop walking. The way this area was devoid of people had already put him on edge, now with the sounds that were taking over what had been quite only a few moments ago started to have an effect. Will's blood boiled a bit in excitement. He'd have to get a good feel of just what opponents and obstacles could prevent his progress. He just had to be ready for it. The sound was getting closer now, he was sure of it. The teen's eyes darted left and right in front of him and even up. The last thing he wanted was something to drop out of the air right on top of him. Nothing as far as the light could reach though. That only left... Sati's sudden cry caused Will to do a quick one eighty. Already the bat pokemon, zubats, were veering off from their attack. He gritted his teeth and tried to think quickly. Fact after fact of information flashed across his minds eye, taken from numerous books. Smokescreen was out. In here, the haze would only make breathing a chore. More harmful than helpful. Fire attacks would cause trouble in the long run as well, burning up the oxygen. Will would have to make a note that fire pokemon weren't the wisest of choices for this area. At least not until he was sure the environment could handle a couple of fire attacks and remain stable enough for him to be unhindered. "Sati, Defense Curl," however, she had flinched from the attacks and was still recovering so his order had been wasted. Varuna barreled into the battle, the pale yellow seashell that was normally on his torso brandished as a weapon. "Focus, Varuna." And he did so, stopping his forward momentum and eying the two creatures as he held his shell in a defensive position whilst focusing his mind and body to the battle before him. His body flexed as the muscles coiled in ready for use and a light glow permeated the air around him for a moment.

Both bats snickered to themselves. Their plan was perfect, and they had caught the rat off guard. The trainer whirled about to attempt to assess the situation, but both rodents of the cave had took back to the air, claiming this round as their own. With each wingbeat, their amusement and cockiness grew. The brute Zubat gave a thick chuckle, apparently the only sound he was capable of making. That went incredibly well. The lean Zubat purred, or the bat equivalent of such.
At the command of their trainer, they began their attacks. Expect some type of elemental onslaught from the trainer's lackeys, instead they were greeted with something else: Nothing. Confused, both bats continued to tread air while each performed their respective self-raising attack. Ha! Did you see that!? We scared 'em. They won't attack. One cackled, while the other began to turn and wiggle the rear in the direction of the two before flying higher, preparing for their next attacks, divebombing with their fangs once more. With the passive round over, it was time for offense once more.
Both Zubats flew down, fangs glinting as they snapped at the bodies of the rat and otter, clearly pleased with themselves.

Will twitched as the sound of the zubats' laughter bounced from the walls and into his ears. The cocky flying fur balls thought this was funny. Some silly little game for their own fleeting amusement. Aggravating little things they were. The breeder was tempted to try and bat them out the air himself. They weren't even that much of a threat as a species even, in fact, they were weak by his definition. However, the way the fought was a real danger. Even if Will's pokemon were unmovable mountains in comparison, the bats would be able to chip away at them. Painstakingly slow, they'd cut them down bit by bit unless he could think up of something. His pokemon needed an opening. Taking a deep breath he watched them come around for another attack. They were still sticking with nipping at his pokemon. At first they'd focused on Sati, most likely because of where she'd been positioned in the group. Now they were spreading to stall both of them. The question was, would his pokemon flinch from the assault once more? The breeder let out a puff of smoke as the zubats hit, wondering if his pokemon were still staggering. Will barked orders anyway. Any chance was one that he could use. "Sati, Flame Charge. Varuna, Razor Shell." Will couldn't afford Sati flinching in the middle of her attack so he chose to risk a fire move instead of Rollout. It didn't have a type advantage against the Zubats, but it also wouldn't be stopped short if they focused on the Cyndaquil to make her flinch. Varuna was already pumped so he instantly lashed out with the shell in his paw. Will was also relieved to see the Cyndaquil follow though as well. No stalling the inevitable this turn, it seemed. The zubat probably wouldn't even know what hit them. Sati had already blasted in there direction as a flaming bullet aimed at the first one. While she was doing this, Varuna had closed the distance to the other and swung a glowing shell with all his might, keeping an eye out for any weak spots that he could take advantage of while he was focused. Given the aerial advantage, the zubats were quick and agile, but at their level, they should have known not to pick a fight with a pokemon of the cyndaquil's level, and now they were about to get their butts whipped as a humiliating punishment. Just as the Zubats turned to fly off and prepare for their next attack, the first zubat suddenly felt the explosive pain of a fiery hot cyndaquil-shaped attack smashing into it from behind, and knocking it breathless and twitching to the floor of the cave, squealing in pain. "Ow ow ow ow ow ow ow!!" it cried, flapping its wings wildly. There hadn't been nearly enough time to escape, and now the mischievous Zubat was probably regretting its decision to mess with this trainer. The other Zubat had managed to move out of the way just in time, or by luck, and flitted over to the first Zubat's side. "Hey, don't you faint on me now!" He screeched. "I won't be defeated yet." The first Zubat replied. "Comon' let's get 'em!" He chuckled weakly, patting the brute Zubat playfully with his wing. The first Zubat mustered his remaining strength, and took to the air once more, and flew up near the ceiling, in an attempt to conceal himself in the darkness, while the brute Zubat launched himself at the Cyndaquil furiously. How dare the rat hurt his friend! He would avenge his friend, he would make the fiery rat feel pain like the pain it had caused his friend! With out hesitation, the Zubat shot forward, and attempted to Bite the cyndaquil's nose. Meanwhile, the first Zubat, using the darkness to its advantage, suddenly shot out from the darkness, coming up behind the cyndaquil, aiming to use its Astonish attack. It probably wasn't a surprise now, but hopefully, it would hurt just as much as that Flame charge attack did. The brute Zubat flitted out of the way in time for the first Zubat to make his attack, only to find the razor sharp edge of a shell slicing through his vitals, and sending blood splattering across the cave floor. It could only open its mouth wide in shock, but its throat was cut out so it could only cough up blood in its attempt to squeal in pain. The disemboweled Zubat crumpled to the ground in the pool of its own blood. It was still alive, somehow, but it was in critical condition, and would soon die if not cared for. "NOOOOOOOOOO!!!" the first Zubat screeched, rushing to its friend's side. "No, no no no!! You can't leave me! Come on, get up! Stop joking around, you can't possibly be defeated!" But the blood didn't lie. Now the Zubat was alone to fight this trainer. He didn't want to abandon his friend to be captured, but how could he possibly defeat these two powerful pokemon in his physical condition?
o o c || somehow, I suddenly got so much muse for this xD
Mod notes Astonish inflicts damage and has a 30% chance of causing the target to flinch if the user attacks before the target. Bite has a 30% chance of causing the target to flinch.

Will let a bit of the tension ease from his shoulders as he watched his two pokemon practically decimate the zubat's opposition. Of course they wouldn't go down to two meager little flying rats. The breeder had trained them better, pushed them to constantly take themselves to a higher level. An eerie calm settled over the teen when blood finally flew. Not from his pokemon, but from one of the zubats. With an unreadable expression he briefly watched the other zubat screech over it's dying comrade. The breeder nearly forgot to give an order until another screech cut into his ears. Growling out a long stream of smoke and flicking the gather ash from his cig, he spoke up before the Zubat got any idea of running. "Water Pulse." Varuna didn't need any other prompting but that. The otter pokemon focused and opened its mouth wide allowing a glowing blue orb to gather a couple of inches in front of its face. Then with a forceful cry, the orb blasted forth. It pulsed and a ring of rushing water exploded into being as it aimed to finish off the remaining zubat. However, Will's eyes were still solely focused on the downed creature that was bleeding out right in front of him. Seeing it struggled brought about something edging its way from the back of his buried emotions. What was it, the breeder wasn't sure but it had been spurred to make itself known by the sight. Logically, Will knew that he could save the zubat. Capturing the creature would stall the threat on its life long enough for Will to make a trek back. Steadly, he walked forward. A pokeball had found its way into his hand without him realizing it. The teen hesitated and his eyes hardened. Not only moments ago this creature had attacked him foolishly and even taunted him. It was a blow to his pride in the ability he'd trained into the pokemon he traveled with. Will suddenly grabbed his head and growled. A rush of confusion rushed over him. This is why he hated thinking over emotions. They made him, forced him, to feel. He glared at the creature as his hand clenched tightly around the pokeball. Maybe it didn't deserve this...Then with a sickening crunch, his shoe crushed the zubat's skull beneath it. Will's cold emerald eyes lingered on the wet remains. Tattered blue fur dyed in red with bits of brain and bone, smeared against the ground. A bit had even splattered along the sides where his foot had came down, similar in effect to someone stepping on an egg. Given the size of it, while the breeder had mostly aimed for the head the rest of it didn't escape much damage. The body was limp and flattened, organs and such and busted from the skin. The wings had been shredded as Will had unconciously dragged them along the rocky ground by the sheer force of his stomp. It didn't deserve to suffer. However, in the end the creature was damaged goods. Thus, to Will it was already dead from the beginning. Add yet, looking on at what he did. Will felt nothing. Emptiness settled over him in a wave of apathy. Should he have felt something? With another smoke filled breath, he couldn't find it in him to care anymore. Then his eyes turned to see what happened to the other zubat. Its fate had yet to be decided. It wasn't enough that his partner had been felled, it's blood scattered across the floor and its life bleeding out by the second. It just wasn't enough for the cold hearted trainer who they had taunted and mocked no more than five minutes in advance. He would certianly be next, not even having the time to make the decision to fight or take flight. It wasn't as though he'd be able to defeat the ruthless human but he couldn't leave his partner, either. He was stuck between a rock and a hard place with little to no hope of being able to get out alive.
The remaining Zubat suddenly hatched an idea at that moment. Maybe, he could drag his partner to safety. Get out of there before he was beaten as badly as the other duel-type Pokemon. The plan seemed foolproof in his mind, certainly, even if it really wasn't. However, before he could even start to carry out his plan, everything was shattered in a heartbeat. Two simple words that defined the line between his life and his death that were uttered from the mouth of a monster. "Water Pulse." In seconds, the bat-like creature was watching as an orb of water tore through the air in his direction and, in the next, he was falling to the ground in a wet, half concious heap. There was no hope for them any more. Not in the slightest.
The Pocket Monster watched, mind fuzzy and fading out faster than he thought it would, as the trainer approached his already fallen comrade. At first, with a Poke' Ball already in his grip, it appeared as though he were going to capture the helpless Pokemon. A wave of anger passed over him and he attempted to get up and lash at the human, but found that he had no more control over his body and couldn't move a muscle. However, the idea of the red-haired person attempting to capture it would have worked for him had option two be presented to him much sooner than it had. Suddenly, a foot was hovering the head of the other Pokemon and, with the worst sound to ever hit his eardrums, he was painfully aware that the creature had been murdered by the stranger.
(It's... It's not fair...) he muttered weakly. Not that it would make much of a difference reguardless. Nothing in life was fair and his voice was to small to be able to distinguish any word from another. When emerald eyes turned to look at him this time, every single thought that he had was washed from his mind, replaced by one simple fact. He was going to die. (P-please...) he muttered, even though the only others who would be able to understand him would be the human's slaves who could probably care less about his weel being. (Have... Have mercy...)

Will thought nothing more of the dead pokemon. Damaged goods were useless to him in the long run. Had he taken pleasure or satisfaction in killing the downed creature? No. He hadn't. He didn't regret the action either. Such an act was just another mere stepping stone for him. There wasn't much else to be bothered with anymore. Now, he studied the other bat pokemon of the duo. Was it stronger? Perhaps not, but it wasn't as damaged. Will could work with that if he decided to train it. He could simply break it to pieces and then rebuild the creature into something that suited his battle style. So he threw the pokeball and watched as the red light dissolved the solid form and pull into its depths. Then the breeder took a moment to analyze his pokemon. Not too much harm had befallen them. They looked a little worn, but it was expected in battle. Their fights, if you could even call them that, were prevented from being completely one sided simply by the other creatures staling them. Will knew it was nearly impossible to completely prevent his pokemon from flinching unless he shelled out the money to buy items specifically for preventing it. He knew, but the idea that he couldn't train out such a weakness still bothered him. "Good work," words of praise escaped his mouth. Slightly distant, but more than what one would expect from a young man such as himself. It wasn't much, but his pokemon stood a bit more proud at the encouragement to do better in future battles. Waiting for the pokeball to seal, Will took the moment to pull out the map and make a note of one of the pokemon types he'd encountered. No reason to ignore a fact that would make any future trips through this area easier.
