yeah, gonna surprise mum and dad. Justin's hands ran over the tattoos on his body, the Raikou stripes that stuck out against his tan skin. His camera was by his side as he lay out in the grass outside of his home in Ormy village. It was a quiet day, and his parents weren't home. He HAD wanted to surprise them and show them his Pokemon he'd gotten so far, but that would have to wait until they returned from wherever they had been, not that Justin minded. So, he was just relaxing outside, snapping photos of the occasional Pokemon that flew in the sky, or cloud formations. Maybe a landscape picture here and again.
Sitting by himself was something he'd been used to, especially since he was a photographer. The man would sit in one spot for almost a day if that meant getting the perfect shot as opposed to half-assing the photograph. So waiting was not a problem. He did start to think a little deep, though.
What am I doing, anyways? He asked himself outloud. His Pokemon were in their capsules, nestled in for a nice sleep, so it was only himself. My whole journey is to find one Pokemon. What am I going to do after I see it, if anything? Try and befriend it? Snap a photo and then find a house, a wife, and settle down? I have all these nice promises to myself, and yet... I have no idea what i'm truly doing. He sat up for a moment and brushed some of the grass off of his bare back and brushed his calves off since the shorts weren't protecting them.
I just... I dunno. He murmured to himself, letting himself fall back down in the grass. It was true, when people asked him what he wanted to do, he always told them 'Get a picture of Raikou, yup, that's what I want. '. When asked if he wanted to catch it, he'd always reply ' Perhaps, that'd be fun for sure. My idol as my partner. I can dig that, but... I dunno. I'll probably never meet 'em anyways.' He would always chuckle after that, and be on his way. But what would he do if he met Raikou? The storm in his mind mirrored the one that seemed to roll in on the village. Looks like it'll rain.[/blockquote]

Justin had fallen asleep after his musings about his future and the true reasoning as to taking a Pokemon team in the first place, calling himself a trainer, and wouldn't be woken up easily. The tiny drops of rain weren't a bother to him, he in fact enjoyed it. It wasn't until the sheets and buckets came down that he'd wake up. But until then, he was enjoying his dreams. Running through a field with all of his pokemon, and at the top of the hill stood a Raikou. Justin fumbled with his camera to attempt to take a photo, but the lightning that it created from it's back flashed brighter than Justin's camera. When Justin looked at the photo, there wasn't anything but a bright light. He'd get Raikou next time!
SPLASH!
Justin awoke immediately, camera in hand up to his face like in his dream. Rain was coming down in sheets and his camera didn't have it's watercover on it. Staggering up and shoving the camera into a bag clumsily, Justin stood up and rushed over to the side of the house where a bit of cover was. At least a bit of rain wasn't hitting him, although the giant sheets tended to shift when the wind changed. His mother always left the kitchen window unlocked, so perhaps he could throw his bag in there...
He snuck around to the other side and tried to open the window. It made a click and slid up. He released Artemis inside by throwing the pokeball in there, and talked to him through there. Hey, unlock the door. Justin said. Artemis was about to, but then shot him a look. The trainer sighed. It's my parents house, don't worry. Artemis gave a nod and disappeared. Justin closed the window and went back to the front, waiting for Artemis to unlock it. In that time, he scanned the horizon only to find something... huddled or asleep in the middle of the plains off to the side, almost to the forest. It wouldn't have been anything, but Justin couldn't shake the feeling something was wrong.
Artemis opened the door and Justin slid his bag inside and started jogging towards the huddled wad of fur. Purple, yellow, black... blue tail... It couldn't be. As Justin got closer, his glasses were covered in water so he couldn't see well. But the outline matched the exact outline of... No... It wasn't. He broke into a run. The creature wasn't moving. Artemis! Justin shouted over the thunder. He was at the collapsed body of the creature, but he wouldn't believe that it was a Raikou. His luck just wasn't that good. Artemis, come here! We need to get him out of the rain! He shouted.
Judging by it's size, it wasn't a full grown Raikou, more like an incredibly young one. Maybe a hatchling? No, Raikou didn't hatch. They were born from Lightning. Perhaps one of the storms today? He wasn't sure, but Artemis was taking too long. Who knows how long the poor thing had been here? He was nervous about picking it up, a wild creature that could easily hurt him, but there wasn't much of a choice. He was about to call for Artemis again, but he was beside him now, panting from running so fast. We have to get him out of the rain. You grab his feet, and i'll get his torso. He said, shivering from the cold. How ironic, the Raikou tattoo'd trainer would actually be meeting one.
Artemis was skeptical, but looked down at the creature, hoping it wouldn't bite Justin. Worry not, Tiger of the Storm. We mean no harm, but out here in the open is not safe. My trainer and I are taking you inside. But please, refrain from biting him? He murmured to the creature as he grabbed the lower half of the young legendary. Justin was worried at first, but grabbed hold of the chest and legs, hearing the static flow inside the creature's cloud, where energy was stored. Hopefully it wouldn't bite, hopefully it wouldn't bite...
Artemis, the door is open. We're taking him inside, alright? He confirmed, walking the distance to get back to the house before someone saw the creature. It must have been running for a long time to have just collapsed, young or not. They reached the door and Justin kicked it open farther to let the creature in. He released Xero and Dayn and pointed them in the direction of the living room, where there were a few pillows on the sofa. Both the feline and canine scampered off to grab them. Artemis set the creature's legs down while he ran to get a blanket from Justin's bedroom, while he waited with the creature.
Soon, they had a pallet made for the raikou, and Justin set him down on the blanket and littered it with pillows for comfort. Since they were in the kitchen, Justin scampered about and looked for something to feed the exhausted creature. Curiosity got the better of the Shinx, who wandered close to the laying Raikou. Are you okay? You seem tired, but don't worry. You're electric, and I am too, so that makes us brothers! He purred, almost as young as the Raikou was himself. He let out a bit of a purr and sat beside Raikou, waiting for Justin to come over with a handful of bowls containing different things: ground beef, warmed ground beef, standard Pokemon food, a few bowls of water... He wasn't sure what the Pokemon would like, but he figured it was a carnivore to say the least.
Artemis walked back over and kneeled down behind the bowls. Since he was the leader and the only one who could communicate with the tiger, it seemed fitting that he was the one to do such. What can we get you? You're safe in here. No more running for now, you need to rest. Artemis sat, cross legged, against a cabinet. He passed a glance at Justin, who had a towel. He walked over to the side of Raikou and started to dry it's fur, but how it would react, he didn't know. Kindness was the only thing he knew, though. he wasn't going to sit back idly. [/blockquote]

The ground was a nice place. Cold, hard, and less than inviting, but a decent place to fall into slumber, none the less. The patter of rain against his stripped pelt only soothed him more than one would think, it's rythmic beat slowly beginning to draw him closer to sleep like a lullaby. But this wasn't where he was supposed to be falling asleep, he reminded himself, and tried to get back to his still shaking and weakened paws. He found he could not. The moment he managed to prop himself up on all for legs, his legs buckled beneath him and he found the wet grass and newly formed mud reaching to grab at him once more.
Lightning struck the ground.
(Life's no fun...) he grumbled underneath his breath. This was not the ideal place to rest but it appeared to be his only option, curling into a mishapen ball, the striped monster got as comfortable as he could on the hard planet's surface and tried to fall into slumber like he had before. The increasing amount of lightning, falled quickly by thunder made this very difficult, even with the rain to make himself more and more sleepy with ever second that passed him by. He shifted around a bit, hoping that moving into a more comfortable position would allow him to rest. No such luck. If anything, how he was laying then was much worse than how he had been just moments before. (I wish mom was here...) he whispered, hugging his own tail like a child would their favorite plush toy. (She'd know what to do...)
Maybe he wasn't as tired as he had assumed. Whatever the reason, though, there was one thing that he was certain of - he did not fall asleep soon enough. But, with time, he soon found his mind fading into darkness and entered his dream world. Well, he would have but, unfortunately, no dreams came to him that night. The Raikou was not worried about that, however - sleep with dreams or without was still sleep and hadn't that been what he had asked for?
He didn't know how long he had slept for. A few minutes? And hour? However long he had been didn't matter, though - there was something more important at hand. The rain had picked up and the time between bolts of lightning striking the ground was noticably shorter. However, the electric-type doubted either of these factors had been the cause for his rude awakening. No, but, if he had to guess it was probably the sound of a human voice. "Artemis!" Oh no. Not this. The hunter? Has he come back to get me? The Raikou struggled to get to his feet, only to fail once more. (No!) he wailed, flailing helplessly in the mud. "Artemis, come here! We need to get him out of the rain!"
Within a matter of moments, a second being had joined the one who called out and the beast of the storm took the time to catch a glimpse of his captors' faces. One was a dark skinned fellow with tattoos that reminded him of his own stripes... huh. The second was a feirce looking Lucario who seemed winded from the run. "We have to get him out of the rain. You grab his feet and I'll get his torso," the trainer commanded. Before he could do anything, strong arms were lifting him into the air. For a moment, he contemplated biting them both only to have the blue and black aura Pokemon seem to read his thoughts. (Worry no, Tiger of the storm. We mean no harm, but out here in the open is not safe. My trainer and I are taking you inside. But, please, refrain from biting him?) A weak snort escaped his mouth. So he couldn't bite. But that didn't mean he couldn't struggle.
So struggle he did.
(Let me go! Mom! Mom, where are you?) he called frantically. He was caught! There was no way he'd make it out now without his mother to save him. "Artemis, the door is open," the supposed hunter was saying. "We're taking him inside, alright?" Everything that happened next was a blur. He recalled seeing the door open and two more Pokemon be released, but that was really it. He was set down on what he assumed were pillows and blanket - much more cozy than the hard ground outside, none the less. (Are you okay?) The voice that reached his ears was tiny and filled with concern. (You seem tired, but don't worry.) What would he say next? It would all be over soon? The suposed hunter hadn't gone into that kitchen looking for something to kill him with, did he? The Pokemon speaking with him - a Shinx, he noted - continued, (You're electric, and so am I, so that makes us brothers!)
Brothers.
Yeah, right.
A few bowls filled with food and water were set down next to him. At first, he swung his head in his direction and prepared to dig in hungrily when something occured to him - they could be poisoned! This person really was trying to hurt him! (What can we get you?) The Raikou let out a yelp, surprised by the Lucario's sudden appearance. (You're safe here. No more running for now; you need rest.) He was about to bark something back when, suddenly, the feel of something rubbing his back caught his attention. Turning, he saw the human drying his fur with a towel. For a heartbeat, he pondered whether to burn the person to a crisp with some sort of electric-type move, but thought better of it in the end.
(... Whatever...)

So, he hadn't been burned to a crisp at the touch of the Raikou. Justin figured this was a bit of a good thing, right? Artemis crossed his arms and looked down at the young one. He was quiet for a moment, but then spoke. I'm glad we found you before any hunters did. Artemis snorted back at the Raikou's whatever, obviously not intimidated. He'd been around too long to feel intimidation from any legendary, especially this young. It wasn't disrespect, it was just Artemis.
Dayn cocked his head to the side and let his tail swish about. It was obvious the Shinx wanted to get to know the young tiger better as well, after all, they had alot in common. Separated by parents, although Dayn saw Justin as a father almost, both electric, both feline... It was just too much of a coincidence for the Shinx to shake off the encounter. However, he tried to give the feline enough space. Artemis watched Justin to make sure he was safe, the Raikou was unpredicatable and could hurt him at any time. Although, with Justin's Pokemon in the house somewhere wandering about, it was probably an unwise move. A Numel and Poochyena were out of eyeshot, leaving only Artemis and Dayn.
Justin hung up the fur laden towel and sat in a chair at the table, to give the feline his space as well. He was obviously scared, and Artemis knew what he was doing. Although the Pokemon could understand human speech, it was better if Artemis did the speaking, since he could understand. When Raikou didn't eat though, Artemis gave a grunt to get his attention before dipping a claw into the water and licking it off. He then dipped another one into the meat and licked it off as well. We're not here to hurt you. It's food. He reaffirmed, though merely watched the Raikou, occasionally looking over at Justin, wondering what was on his mind.
His fingers itched for his camera unlike nothing he'd ever known. He wanted to grab it and go from all ape shit photographer, but that was disrespectful. This was a living creature, not a statue to glorify and take pictures of. He needed to make sure the poor thing was okay. I'll keep watch and make sure no hunters are prowling around. He said, looking out the window like a Watchog. The first step to finding your family is getting your strength back. Instead of fighting us, let us help you. Artemis rasped. Dayn yawned and snuggled against the Raikou cutely. I don't have a family. He yawned before snuggling further. But he's my family now, Artemis, he's a brother. Dayn purred, before falling asleep. This felt... wrong.
Humans were a thing to be feared, his mother had always told him. They were selfish beings who thought and cared about no one but themselves. The moment their eyes landed on such a prize like his species, they would lose themselves, going mad in their quest to obtain such a beast as he. Their humanity would be cast aside, all but forgotten in their search for power. He was supposed to stay away from all contact with the superior species in fear that they would seek him out, hunt him down, and do utterly dispicable things to him once their hands had gotten to him.
This person and his Pokemon did not seem like power hungry animals, however. If anything, they seemed like the other Pokemon who would come to another's aid if they were ever in trouble, doing everything they could to help and protect the poor soul who could not be healed on their own. Was it all a lie, those words his mother had told him? Were humans really not as terrible as he had been lead to believe? ... No. He refused to go against his mother's ideas willingly. Maybe there was... an exception? Yes, that seemed about right. This person wasn't as awful as the rest.
That, or he was playing it cool so he could kidnap the Raikou without a struggle.
(I'm glad we found you before any hunters did.) The words reached his ears and he realized that they had been spoken by none other than the Lucario who had tried to calm him before. What, was this still part of the act? Was the duel type trying to calm him down as well so it's master could do... something to him without him trying to get away? As much as part of him wanted to believe that it was just some act... he couldn't. There was actual comfort in those words. Maybe they hadn't meant to be that way, reassuring and whatnot, but... they were to him.
He eyed to food and water carefully as the Lucario dipped his paw in both and ate and drank respectively. (We're not here to hurt you. It's food,) it explained, watching him while casting it's trainer the occational glance. Carefully, while the duel-type was looking away from him, his muzzle shot out, lapping at the water and food hungrily, only for him to recoil greatly when the higher leveled Pokemon looked back. This, of course, got water and food everywhere - his muzzle, the blanket, and all over the floor, and the tiger's expression was colored with guilt. (I-I didn't do it!) he protested without even being scolded, though the evidence proved otherwise.
That food was tempting, though, seeming to call his name so loudly, he could almost hear it in the back of his mind. Cautiously - more so to avoid making any more of a mess at that time than he was afraid of it being tainted - he stuck his mouth close to the bowls and ate a bit from them all, finding the ground beef to be better than any food he'd eaten in the past week. Soon, he was eating freely, not worried about it being poisoned in the slightest. After all, the Lucario had eaten from them and he wasn't suffering from the effects... right?
"I'll keep watch and make sure no hunters are prowling about."
As much as he hated to admit it... the Raikou did feel kind of safe. Tired, mostly, but safe all the same. (The first step to finding your family...) the Lucario was saying, though he tuned out the rest of the words with ease, focusing instead on the Shinx who decided to get comfortable next to his frame. (I don't have a family,) the smaller electric-type explained, causing him to feel a pang of guilt for the other Pocket Monster. (But he's my family now, Artemis. He's a brother.) As the Shinx fell into slumber beside him, the Raikou realized just how close to slumber he truly was. With a yawn, he decided that... this wasn't so bad. At least he had someone nice to sleep with.
(Mmm... G'night...) he muttered sleepily and, within a heartbeat, he was out like a light as well.
Yes.
Maybe there... were a few exceptions to the idea that all humans were evil.

The sounds of the aprehensive eater made Justin feel a bit more at ease. he'd have to clean later, but that was no problem. Something that did worry him was the fact the tiger had been alone outside. Were it's parents subject to hunters? Perhaps this Raikou got away, and wandered all the way to Ormy, where Justin happened to find him? Perhaps it was fate.
Or perhaps it was just exhaustion that brought the Raikou here.
Either way, it was here, and someone needed to take care of it.
Dayn snoozed beside the Raikou, snuggled up against the creature's fur, ignoring the wet spots on the blanket where water had been strewn. When he was sure the Pokemon was asleep, Artemis stood and walked over to his trainer, leaning his head against Justin's arm as a sign of affection as they both watched the two sleep. Then Artemis closed the window and started to clean about wherever it was needed, but not too close to the Raikou, so it could sleep.
Someone needs to watch over it. It can't stay in my parents house forever. Justin thought aloud, making Artemis perk up his ears in shock. The dog wandered over to his trainer, who was still watching the two felines. If Raikou looks like he has a trainer, then the Hunters won't mess with him. He'll be safe. If he wanders off again, he'll get eventually picked off by some hunter. Although Artemis knew the clash going in Justin's mind, the old Pokemon knew it was true. Artemis didn't have the same problem as the Raikou, he was stuck in one place once. Raikou was free, and yet not. Perhaps a trainer WAS Raikou's freedom. Like Artemis.
Looks like they were alot alike, afterall..
Im not going to catch it unless he wants me to. But at least we can get him to understand to follow along with us until we can find somewhere safe for him. He murmured, but Artemis shot him a glance of 'really?' Yeah... you're right. No place is ever really... safe. But it's up to him. He seems pretty relaxed now, at least... He's gotta feel a bit safe. Justin murmured, but Artemis only returned to cleaning.
Justin stood and took a wet rag to Raikou's muzzle, tenderly as to not wake it up. The food and water were soon gone from it's muzzle and around him was clean as well. Dayn looked up sleepily before closing his eyes once more, purring against the chest of the Raikou. He couldn't pass up this opportunity. Snagging the camera from the table, he snapped a flashless photo. Dayn purred happily while the Raikou didn't stir. Looks like Justin got his photo after all.
