In a burst of red light, the small brown bug disappeared. Having fainted, it couldn't offer much of a fight, and neither did it really want to fight back at this point. The pokeball rolled around, back an forth, as the pokemon within struggled to get used to the new surroundings, before calming down in the peace of the pokeball, hearing the 'ping' that sealed its fate as a captured pokemon.
Meanwhile, from a far, another bug was watching from its spot on the side of a tree, antenna twitching curiously. Well, would you look at that? The lucky little Kricketot had been spared a harsh life in the wild. "Ledy ledy...ba. (Well, I'm different! I'm going to teach that trainer and its pokemon a lesson!)" the Ledyba hissed. It lifted its hard shell to reveal the soft, veined wings beneath, and flew out in front of the trainer and pokemon. "Ledy ledy ledyba!(Hold it! I have business with you!"" The Ledyba hissed, then shot Supersonic at the Cyndaquil that had just fought a battle.

Another capture. The excitement around the accomplishment had already dulled. The first had been extraordinary. The second an act of necessity and interest, but lacking drive. William had already become disinterested in the act itself. The outcome was still important, but it no longer had any worthwhile effect on him. There was still a bit of nervousness that buzzed in the back of his mind, but with how weak the creature was there was little doubt that it would actually be able to break free. The breeder's mind still wondered just where the pokemon would stack when it came to use. There was a small part of him that thought that he'd captured it just for the sake of owning it. Adding it to a collection that would be incomplete without it taking a place there. He took a step to reclaim the ball, now holding the creature. But he was stopped by the sudden appearance of another challenger. Will took a surprised step back and his eyes widened when the attack came at him. However, Sati jumped in to take it. She fell to the ground even as he took the chance to distance himself further. A snarl escaped his mouth and his face momentarily twisted into a sneer. The little pest had gotten the drop on them! How humiliating. To think that after only two battles, he was already becoming overconfident in his and his pokemon's ability. He wouldn't draw this out. "Torch it." ... However, Sati stalled. She looked almost lost in her own daze. She just stood there for a while and then shook her head, seemingly trying to come back to her sense. However, what ever was affecting her wasn't so easily shaken. The pokemon rushed forward, but missed the Ledyba entirely and instead tripped herself. What could only be described as a painful fall followed. Headfirst she crashed into the ground, hurting herself in the process. Then shakily she stood once more. The chance had already been lost though. The pest pokemon was already readying a second attack. Will's brain had to catch up, figuring out what was going on. Supersonic. She was disoriented. This was bad. The cyndaquil needed to shake that off or they actually might lose to their weak opponent. Will's hand edged toward his belt, having another starter from the lab there. However, he hesitated. The breeder didn't want to admit defeat like that even if it was a strategically sound maneuver. Sati could beat this, she was vastly superior. She held a type advantage, experience, and was already primed for battle. So he waited to see what happened next. Success! Ledyba was beaming with confidence after watching his Supersonic attack hit the Cyndaquil. It helped re-enforce her confidence that she was different to every other bug in the forest, she felt on top of the world knowing she had a fire type pokemon already on the negative side of the battle. Cyndaquil begun to charge at Ledyba, and he was expecting to have to move out of the way. He didn't have to though, the dazed fire type missed him completely and tripped over her own feet. Ledyba smirked towards Cyndaquil as he noticed she was trying to stumble to her feet, it seemed as though the Supersonic attack had put Cyndaquil into a state of confusion. "Ledy, Ledy, Ledy, Ledy, Ledyba! (See I told you I am different to the rest of the pokemon in this forest. Now watch and learn.)"Feeling in control of the battle was a great feeling for any pokemon to have, but it just gave Ledyba more determination as he spread his wings out and begun tto vigorously flap them as he darted towards the off guard Cyndaquil. Ledyba braced himself as he was going to tackle the fire type pokemon with a Tackle attack, by launching his whole body at Cyndaquil like a cannonball. (Hey, another temp mod! Thanks for helping around the site with me!) Sati reeled from the shock of her own attack being turned against her. Every flickering shadow seemed like an enemy. With the fires both from her back and the camp, it seemed as if she was surrounded from all sides. The Cyndaquil was beginning to panic. For the first time during battle she became acquainted with the emotions of fear. Deep down, the pokemon knew that most of what she was witnessing must have been an illusion, her own mind fighting to gain some stability. However, her instincts cried out in helplessness. Sati felt backed into a corner, like some newborn hatchling, struggling for survival against overwhelming odds. It was terrifying and she hated it. The flames on her back only reflected this, occasionally weaken to show her fear before the survival instincts got he best of her and they flared to life again. Honestly, she wanted to flee. But she didn't even know where to flee to and she couldn't just leave her master. The pokemon stood around in confusion so she couldn't dodge when the Ledyba followed up with a tackle. Strangely, whether she was just imagining it or couldn't feel the full force due to her erratic senses the attack didn't hurt that much. Sure, it threw her to the side, but it was easier to get up before. Little did she know that her reactions were getting better and better in the heat of battle. The pokemon had, without thinking, suddenly reacted to the pain that was to come and forced herself to go with the flow of the tackle instead of resisting it. It did little good though because she still couldn't quite pinpoint the troublesome bug pokemon. More sounds, vaguely similar to the voice of her master, bombarded her senses. The words swam through her ears in a tangled mess of syllables. He had ordered her to do something, but what? Fire? Try to tackle it again? Her newly revealed quick variant? Sati wasn't even sure she could do that last one again, it had been a spur of the moment occurrence the first time. Yet, she tried it. It seemed like the most viable option in her disoriented brain. So she sprinted out at the Ledyba and lashed out, much better than the last time. Her attack was almost on mark, however, whether the creature moved at the last moment of she had just missed by inches, the tree behind it greeted her instead. She slammed into it and slumped. She let out a heavy pant and stood again. Next time she was going to take that annoying thing out for real, she was sure of it. Unfurling it's body after the cannonball tackle, Ledyba passed a glance at the confused Pokemon. A smirk rose to it's small face as it crossed it's double arms. Despite the harsh battle happening in both the Cyndaquil's mind and the literal battlefield, Ledyba couldn't help but feel the slightest bit cocky. True, he was a cut above the rest, but honestly?
Against this fire Pokemon, there was practically no chance for the Cyndaquil to bounce back and defeat it unless that confusion was released. Lucky for Ledyba, the past turn was full of confusion and pain... but not for him. Hahahah! Seriously? This is a fire Pokemon? So many of my species are afraid of you... He bug cackled in it's native tongue.
It's wings released from the inside of it's shell, lifting it up into the air with quick, seemingly invisible wingbeats. It hovered for a moment before flying into the air to prepare itself for another tackle. Perhaps it'd finish early and rifle the trainer for food, and of course, their pride. The red shell of the bug loomed like a falling sun as it's body curled up into a cannonball once more before it tucked it's wings and flew in for another Tackle. Allow me to change the course of nature and defeat you, flaming rat! It's muffled cries could be heard from the protection of it's little cannonball.

Will's teeth clenched, crushing what was left of his cigarette and grinding the filter to a fine mess. His eyes scanned the area warily, hoping that no other pokemon would join the battle and overpower his pokemon completely. That would have been bad. Possibly too much for him to take. He struggled to keep a cool mind and icy disposition, but the battle was wearing his nerves thin. This was a horrid display by the Cyndaquil. She was slowly breaking herself. It was a wonder she had the preservation of mind to actually fight. He wanted to tell her to stop fighting, to focus on shaking off the effects the supersonic had placed her on. He wanted to and at the same time, he didn't. This pokemon was still green, it had let its guard down and was now suffering for it. The crueler part of his persona relished in allowing the pokemon to feel pain, to reap what it sow in the form of punishment. Will wanted to see her drop and give up because this display was pathetic. He wanted to see her die and decay and get rid of her because of the weakness that she was showing. Rationally, Will wanted to see all the weakness get beaten out of her until their was only unerring strength left. His befuddled mind just could pick apart the emotions, so it just attempted to throw them all out or bottle them up. Containing them had been futile and it only served to make them explode and torment him with constant internal backlashes. He didn't know how much more of this he could watch. His tempter was on the verge of exploding so he just let go of it and let it surge forth. Spitting out the remains of his cancer stick he spoke icy, words coming out with an eerie calm despite his unchained anger. "Sait, I gave you an order..." Then he roared. "Follow it!" His shout caused the fire mouse to stall and then shake her head. Then it looked blearily at him. He glared at the creature, allowing it to see the surging disappointment in his eyes. She was blindsided by the Ledyba taking the hit and rolling, but the pokemon just stood and looked at him. "Burn it to ashes. Now."The fire on the pokemon's back reached an intensity far more prominent than anything displayed thus far. Turning back to the Ledyba buzzing around in the air, it just looked at it solemnly. It was sorry, but the order was given. And she couldn't fail. This wasn't a game for her, she took everything seriously. And her pride wouldn't be able to handle it if the teen she'd just gotten accustomed to calling her partner just decided to discard her now. Not after finally earning a place by his side. Clenching her eyes shut, she gathered everything. Anger. Sadness. Remorse. They all fueled the flames that gathered in her mouth. The intensity burned both inside and out. Tongues of fire started to lick her lips and then with a sudden cry a torrent of flames shot out to consume the bug. Ledyba continued to have the same cocky attitude, even though the battle was clearly about to take a wicked turn. The trainer was growling at his Pokemon, something he shouldn't have enjoyed as much as he did, but listening to the Cyndaquil get not only abused verbally, but abusing it physically gave the bug a thrill he'd probably never get again due to their typing. The only problem with the trainer's speech was...
It had snapped Cynadquil out of confusion.
Quickly switching into an offensive mode once more, Ledyba flew up into the air, preparing itself for another cannonball tackle onslaught. If he could get this attack in before it managed to retaliate, perhaps he could rid himself of the pest and get on with his life. The thin wings flew him up into the air, and as he dove towards the fire mouse in a roll, the orange tint glew in the mouth of the Cyndaquil. Before Ledyba could dodge, alas the force of the momentum was too great, the embers seared at his shell, wings, skin, face, and everything else they touched, despite his rolled status.
Time seemed to slow down as the rolling bug was suspended in air by the power of the fire fueled by all the emotions of the Cyndaquil. When time returned, it caught up with Ledyba. The flames licked at his skin and burned at his shell, causing the Pokemon to release a shrill cry only reserved for that of an ultimate pain. The fire refused to die down until it had broken down every part of the Pokemon. However, the shrill cries died when the Ledyba couldn't toss and turn anymore, and the last of the ember subsided with the final breath of the bug Pokemon. The arms hung limp as the Pokemon died on it's back, shell crisp and shiny with the heat of the fire. Touching the Ledyba would result in cracking and potential dismemberment.

It was safe to say, the victor was certainly not the Ledyba.

Nothing had been left but a charred husk. The Cyndaquil looked slightly distraught by the action, but Will had just looked on in bored neutrality as the pokemon burned. His poker face stayed rigid even as the bug died. Taking the time to walk closer he noted Sati finally beginning to tire out, the flames on her back going out, so he picked her up and studied the area where the Ledyba had fell and died. The carcass smoked slightly, tendrils of burn chitin wafting into the air still. The body itself no longer burned, but the fire that his pokemon unleashed had caught onto the surrounding grass in its intensity, drying out the moist greenery and setting it ablaze. It didn't seem to be weakening to fast either.
"Good job," he said absently. Would this start a forest fire? That would not be good. The fine for that would be horrendous if he was blamed for it. He looked on and noticed that the carcass was trying to light itself on fire again since there was still some to burn and it was in the circle of flames. This wouldn't do. So without hesitating, Will stomped out the fires relentlessly. The fact that he felt the remains of what was once a pokemon crunch audibly under his feet didn't even seem to phase him. He didn't stop until the fire had faded leaving only burnt grass and ash behind. That was good enough for today so he set off toward his next destination.
He didn't even bother to look back.
FIN~
