Yawning, Skyler stepped into Vardent town. She certainly had backtracked pretty far, and this town wasn’t actually…well, huge. Nothing like she was used to anyway. She rubbed sleepily at one of her eyes as her gaze traveled. She was searching for the lab, since today was her first day as a Pokemon Connoisseur. She had to find it in order to get anywhere today. She adjusted the yellow sunglasses on her face, leaning them forwards on the bridge of her nose so she could see past them.
“Alright Skye, quick as ya’ can, let’s see if ya’ can’t find this place…” she muttered to herself, hoping to spoit it. Finally, she spotted the only building that really stood out from all the houses and such, and she knew that had to be what she was looking for. Stepping forwards, she held on to the edge of her shirt with one of her hands and moved forwards hastily. Pushing the door open carefully, she looked inside and peered around curiously.
“Hello? Anyone around? I’m the new Pokemon Connoisseur, and I’m here about a starter!” she explained. That was a nutshell of it. Sighing to herself, she stood in the middle of the wide room, placing her hands behind her back and humming a bit.

"Come on, Haru, you can go faster then that. Pick up the pace - the lab is a mess, and we never know when a new trainer might come to visit."
Shoes clattered against cold, hard tiles, echoing unaturally throughout the medium sized labratory. A medium heighted woman ran back and forth between tables, attempting to tame the mess that had piled up over the course of the week. Of course, this was a failed attempt, as she seemed to be doing more harm then good. Had it not been for the busily working Pansage by her feet, the building would be burried in garbage and usless scraps of paper. Sweat streamed down it's green and tanish colored face as it struggled to keep up with it's master's unhumanly pace. If it wanted the lab to actually look decent, like it's owner commanded, it would have to work harder - and slower - then intended. There was almost no way it could keep time with the messy professor before it.
Professor Pine had never been a very cleanly woman, to say the least. Even as a young girl, wherever she would go, she'd leave a terrible mess in her wake. The name 'tornado' had stuck with her since her childhood, since the damage she did was similar to that of the destructive form of weather. She hadn't ever really been fond of the nickname, and rarely answered to it, but her complaints were scarce. Her labratory had been spotless when she first arrived, and now, it was a complete pig sty. Oh well. With her organized Pokemon, clutter wouldn't be as much of a problem as other wise.
Speaking of the grass-type Pokemon, she stared down at the duel colored dreature with a hard stare. It was kneeling over, panting with exhaustion. The two had been at it since early in the morning. But the female took no heed to that factor and scolded, "Get up, you lazy mess. There's work to do." The comment earned her a scowl, but the Pokemon picked itself up and whisked itself off to straighten up a sloppily piled stack of papers. It never received any sort of appretiation, and it doubted it ever would. But today, the professor was more frantic then ever to get things cleaned up. Had she received word that she was to expect someone and wanted things to look good for them? Before it could ask, it's owner disappeared into the back room, muttering something about whether the Pokemon were in place or not.
Fumbling around the storage room, the black haired woman did an out loud head count, her thoughts focused on the row of Poke Balls before her. "Let's see..." she muttered, resting her chin on the edge of the table and hold her long and lanky fingers about an inch away from her covered up ears. "We'ver got... one... two... three... four... five... six... seven..." And she carried onward, counting aloud in her somewhat nasaly tone of voice. Oh, how it agrivated the new trainers. Unfortunately, a change of voice was not an option, as she could do and accent or impression of another to save her life.
"There we are," she said, pulling herself up into a standing position once more. "They're all here... I think..." She paused, a puzzled look replacing the somewhat triumphant look that had ruled over he facial expression just moments earlier. Were they really all here? Had she not noticed one missing? Had she over looked and extra? "Better count again... Just to be safe..." Her mind drifted back into count as she checked herself over. Then again. And again. And soon, she could no longer trust her own judgement and continued ot count the number of Poke Balls before her, completely forgetting about the poor green Pokemon in the main rrom of her labratory who was forced to organize the lab by itself.
The Pansage, however, didn't mind it's trainer's absence. This just meant less scoldings and less of a mess to clean up. It was hard at work, getting everything into a neat orderly fashion like it's trainer had commanded, when he heard the door open ever so slowly. It turned it's duel colored head to stare at the new comer her glance around the room in utter curiosity. It had never seen this dark haired girl before, and, thought little of her. However, when she entered the room, it thought better of ignoring the situation and went to fetch his master. "Hello? Anyone around?" she called, walking out to the center of the lab's main room. "I'm a new Pokemon Connoisseur, and I'm here about a starter!"
As the mankey like creature pried open the door to the back room, it heard to stranger let out a breathy sigh and begin to hum to herself. Impatient was the first word that came to the busied Pansage's mind and she already began to grow a slight dislike towards the hasty new Connoisseur who'd entered it's lab. As it finally got the door to fly open, it ushered it's oblivious owner out into the main room to meet the new comer. Of course, she did not notice her own Pokemon's presence but, after it jumped in front of her track of sight, waving it's arms up and down, it was a little hard to ignore it.
"What now...?" the green eyed woman moaned as her Pokemon lead her into the gray and white room that the teen had walked into. "You can't be hungry already... I just fed you..." However, when she noticed the girl with the yellow tinted glasses, she snapped upright and into her 'professional' mode. "Thanks for the warning call," she hissed at her Pokemon unforgivingly as she walked closer to the stranger. This received her a half hearted shrug, however, and the grass-type went back to work.
"Welcome!" she chirped in her best impression of a cheery voice. She was failing miserably already. "What can I do for you roday? I'm placing my bets on that you want one of the starter Pokemon I have here to offer. Come along, now, if that's what you came here for. No need to sit around if we can cut straight to the point. And pay no attention to Haru," she added, pointing a thumb towards the monkey who, in turn, rolled it's eyes. "He doesn't bit. Much."
As she whisked the brown haired teen into the back room where the Pokemon were held, she said, "Well, then - er, what's your name? It's time to pick out your very first Pokemon!"
WORDS;; 1094 words. NOTES;; Ack. Yucky post. XP TAGGED;; Kat~! MUSE;; Decent, I suppose...

Skyler’s thoughts were interrupted by the sound of the lab worker, who she thought was possibly Professer Pine- no, it certainly was, entered the room, a Mankey right behind her. She pulled at her shirt lightly, a nervous habit she wasn’t sure how she picked up, and managed a sort of half smile, something she was also used to when she spoke to people.
Skyler didn’t really smile much, it just wasn’t her ‘thing’, or whatever you would call it. She leaned back on her heel a bit, until the professor began ushering her along.
“Hey, Erm, Professor, ya’ wouldn’t happen to have Chikorita back here would ya’? I’m really fond of the lil’ guys…or girls…whatever it is really.” She looked around at the room she was led into, hoping there would indeed be the creature she was seeking. She loved Chikorita, and any grass type really, so having one would be great for her, and hopefully for it too.
She was also hoping that the lab did carry this Pokemon, because she had nothing to fall back on, she really hadn’t thought of what she would do if the lab didn’t have the little green creature she had been seeking.

Professor Pine put a hand to her chin, she looked like she was thinking but rather she was more puzzled on how the girl spoke. She liked having something new every once in a while; it kept things fresh. If it weren't for her 'professional-ness' she probably would've had a silly grin on right now. Oh it was good that she kept her cool when dealing with people. After a moment Professor Pine took her hand from the chin it had warmed against and pointed toward the poke`balls she had whisked the girl to. I believe we have right... here. She said as she grabbed one of the little balls that decorated the back. Now she prayed the same creature that was labeled beneath the ball was indeed within that poke`ball. Well they'll just have to wait and see.
The professor held the ball forward, slightly down; summoning out a bright red light. In a flash, the red had dissipated and took shape as a little green creature. Wide eyes stared at the professor before turning to take a look at who its new partner would be. Inside Pine rejoiced as the right pokemon came out. There'd countless times when the little things would get mixed for some random, unknown reason. And lately that seemed to have been happening alot as well. There you go, a chikorita. she said, walking back to the girl and handing her the red and white orb. This one is female. She added with a little note before taking off for the starter pack.
Now the question was where had she put them last. At times she could've sworn the bags had legs because they never seemed to stay in the same spot. Well, at least there was always at least one on the second desk just off a little ways from the poke`balls. Quickly she moved to the second and began to search around. The thing was drowned in papers. With some papers being tossed here and there, Professor Pine managed to find the blue bag that held the girl's first items. Quickly she brought it to her; And these are your starter items. Everything you need to start off should be in there, including your license {hopefully}. She ended with a whisper.
