It wasn't her fault.
Children were immature. They didn't share the same thought process as the people older than themselves. They were irrisponcible, pinning the blame on others or denying that they'd ever did anything wrong. Their frequent mistakes lead to trouble and trouble lead to scolding which could be just as terrifying as the monster under the bed. And, even when children grow up into young adults and every stage beyond, they keep blaming others for their own faults. Even when there's no hope in getting out of a rough situation, they'll do everything they can to get out of it with minimal damage. One phrase in particular was used in these kinds of situations - one that one particular female herself used quite often.
It wasn't her fault.
This could be true, but, at the same time, it could be a lie. Lyra was new to Pokemon. The battles, the care-taking, everything. Just knowing that she was now the master of a creature with a lower status than herself was a bit overwhelming. In their younger days, trainers like herself had probably jumped at the thought of being able to train Pokemon, whether it was for the title or to be like everyone else at the time. However, even back then, she had never been to thrilled at the prospect of capturing and raising of a thing called a Pocket Monster. Perhaps it seemed to close to the monstrosity that was known "slavery" for her taste, even back then. This had been the reason for her late start. Even when she started calling herself a "trainer", it was only an act of self defense.
She would not go down like Ethan had, that she swore.
She'd seen the battles on television, even watched real people battle right before her very eyes. Of course, when it came to battling for yourself, it was a different matter completely. This had been her very first battle. She'd never experianced the thrill of such a competition until that moment. How was she supposed to know what to do? Therefor, it wasn't her fault if she made any mistakes - which, in fact, she had made mistakes, and a lot of them. Couldn't that have been avoided, though, had she started earlier than she had? It was a concious choice she'd made when she chose to play with the Pokemon Day Care's Pokemon instead of catching one of the nearby ones and raising it for battle. In that sense, it was her fault, was it not?
This was all very confusing when trying to be processed in the mind of a female who refused to act any older than the age of seven, of course, and was was easily pushed out of her mind after first being concieved. It would look as though she were staring at the boy in front of her, too. That was rude. That was unlady-like. So she purposely looked away and at something in the trees. What is he actually thought she was staring at him? Would he think she was a freak and leave?
Well, to a lot of people, she was a freak.
But that wasn't the point.
The pig-tailed brunette's outburst only made it more apparent that she had little to no idea what she was doing. A full heal - she'd picked the item up and looked at it for pity's sake - would have easily made for a decent substitute for the item she lacked, and yet she hadn't even bothered to thank about that. Wait. Did she even know what a Full Heal was supposed to do? "Is it a... hat?" she muttered stupidly, not noticing how said item tumbled to the ground as her bag shifted this way and that. "Nah, it don't look like a hat... Maybe it's... It's a... It raises stats? Yeah, that must be it... But... What were stats again...?" Maybe she would have continued trying to think up what all of the items did had she not bursted into tears over the fact that she did not an antidote to heal her slowly dieing Pokemon.
Well, that's a bit of a pessimistic way to look at it, but it was, in fact, true.
"Never panic." The words had only just registered in her mind when she noticed that the boy was right next to her. A hand was placed on her shoulder - larger than her own deinty little ones, she noted - and he handed the Full Heal she had dropped to her. "See this?" he asked. "This can also heal poisons." Her mind was not on the item he was talking about, though. It was the fact that both she and Will were so close to one another. She looked at him with brown eyes slightly widened and wonder... did she tackle him to the ground in one of her infamous hugs? Or was this a bad time? It most certainly felt a little... odd being so close to someone, especially when her arms weren't wrapped around their frame. Did she back away? It would make her feel better, certainly, but would he feel the same? He'd likely react poorly if she jumped on him - hadn't someone once called that a "glomp"? Hm. Maybe, maybe not. - but would he react just as badly if she ripped herself away from the grasp of his hand...?
When he guided her hand towards the place where the Weedle struck Harmony, she was officially what one would call uncomfortable. Did she back away? Yes. Yes, she wanted to so badly. Of course, he was already talking at that point in time, saying, "Find the wound and press the button to apply the Full Heal." When he got up and stepped away, instead of actually spraying the wound, she lifted her fingers to brush her face. It felt oddly... warm. Wait a minute. Warm? That wasn't right! "Wah!" she screeched, jumping to her feet and dropping the Full Heal in her frenzy.
"Ack! I'm on fire! I'm sick! Somebody help me! I'm gonna die!"" Flailing as she paced back and forth, her Marill let out a sigh and prepared to aim a Water Gun at her master's face. This would not only stop her panic attack, but also calm any fears that she was actually on fire. But, before she could do that, the red-haired boy was already talking once more. "Nice capture, by the way." Oh. Right. The Weedle had once again been forgetten.
Lyra, instantly calming down from her sudden freak out, skipped over to the Poke' Ball that had just let out a sort of click, confirming her capture. "Thank you!" she practically sang, lifting the red and white sphere off the ground and lifting it to eye level. "Look at the little buggy, buggy! It's a Weedle!" Hm... Weedle... What did she know about Weedle...? It was a Pokemon. It was a bug. It poisoned Harmony. And... And... What else? Was that it? "Oh!" she called with sudden realization. "That's right! Weedle evolve into Butterfree! That's right!" Giggling, she said, "Silly me, forgetting that."
But her victory was short lived. Hardly a minute later, two more Pokemon crawled down from the trees, both almost identical to one another. "What kind of Pokemon are those...?" she breathed quietly, trying her best to remember. They were a Johto Pokemon, she recalled, being from her home region. They were a bug-type... But what were they called? Before she could dwell any longer on the thought, her fellow trainer said, "I got these two." And, sure enough, he did. "Sati. Eruption." Not a second later, the Cyndaquil did as told, letting an inferno of fire escape it's mouth. At first, the mushroom hatted girl was left in awe, staring wide-eyed at the attack as it shot away from the tiny Pokemon. Wow! Will's pretty tough, ain't he? she thought happily, glad she was "friends" with someone so powerful.
And then the attack collided with the targets and all of her awe shattered into devistation.
"No..." she muttered, hands covering her mouth as she realized just how terrible the aftermath of the attack would be. "No. No!" Suddenly, she ran back to the older boy, clinging to his arms with an utterly terrified look on her face. "No... No! Cut it out!" she wailed, horrified at his cruelty. "They're gonna get hurt! Really, really bad!" Hurt was the best word she could use. She didn't want to admit... She didn't want to think of anyone dieing.
Not again.
Running towards the Cyndaquil in a desperate attempt to stop the awful attack herself, she called, "Sati! Sati! Don't do it! You're going to burn them alive!"

The massive destruction probably would have ended it for any more encounters with wise wild pokemon. What foolish bug pokemon would dare to show itself after seeing what happened to the two pitiful spiders? The two spinarak didn't even have time to realize the danger rushing at them in the form of all the fury and heat of a volcano. The terrible flames engulfed the two spiders, melting their external skeletons instantly, and then all eight legs. Their eyes were burnt to nothingness; just useless sockets of blackness. The fearsome markings on their backs were reduced to blackened rubbish. One would wonder if even the best technology in the pokemon center could save them, and if it could save their lives, these two would never see again, and never walk again. It was a brutal scene, for you could hardly recognize what species of pokemon they were anymore.
Mod notes 343 damage...you killed them o-o
